I offer Counseling Services for:
- Individuals
- Families
- Couples
- Groups
Sometimes counseling can be done individually. However, when there are family or marital concerns, I usually recommend family or couples counseling so I can help you to better address your concerns. There are times when family members or spouses are unwilling to come to counseling. In this case, I can still offer you individual counseling so we work together to help you develop positive solutions that work for you in your situation.
Types of life concerns we work with:
I offer help for a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and life concerns that include:
- Depression and Anxiety
- Grief and Loss
- Life Changes and Transitions
- Workplace Problems
- Stress and Anger Management
- Parenting and Divorce Support
- Relationship Difficulties
- Alcohol, Drug, and Internet Addictions and Recovery
- Sleep Problems
What to expect during your first session:
If you feel unsure or nervous before your first session, you are not alone. I provide a supportive and comfortable environment to help you feel more at ease during your first session.
At your first session, you will have the opportunity to talk with me about your concerns that brought you to counseling. At the end of the first session, I can then offer recommendations that will answer such questions as:
- How often should I come to Counseling?
- Should I bring my spouse or significant other?
- How long will Counseling last in my situation?
Confidentiality:
In general, the law protects the confidentiality of all communications between you and your counselor. No information is disclosed without prior written permission from the client. However, there are some exceptions required by law to this rule. Exceptions include:
- If you use insurance to pay for your sessions. I am required to report your information to insurance companies.
- Suspected child abuse or dependant adult or elder abuse. I am required to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
- If I am told that someone is threatening serious bodily harm to another person, I am required to notify the police.
- If I am told that someone intends to harm himself or herself, I will make every effort to work with that person to ensure their safety. However, if that person does not cooperate, additional measures may need to be taken.
- If I receive a court order directing the disclosure of information. It is my intention to assert privileged communication on behalf of the client and the right to consult with the client if at all possible, except during an emergency, before mandated disclosure.
